The Hands Behind CAIRNROOT
Ruby Fulgham is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Pacific Northwest. They earned their BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from the University of Washington, where they discovered a deep connection to clay and ceramic sculpture. Ruby currently works as a studio technician and ceramics instructor, supporting the creative community while continuing to expand their own practice.
Their ceramic work blends detailed sculptural and graphic elements, drawing inspiration from fantasy, fiction, and a childhood spent roaming the forests of Washington state. Their practice currently focuses on one-of-a-kind pottery pieces and delicate porcelain jewelry, utilizing a wide variety of techniques. Beyond ceramics, their artistic background spans illustration, costume design, sewing, theater, and creative writing; mediums that weave narrative, character, and texture into their visual language. Across disciplines, Ruby’s work reflects a lifelong fascination with imagined worlds and the quiet magic of the natural environment that surrounds them.
